Personal Protection Orders (PPOs) and Extreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPOs)

These types of filings are for emergency situation. If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or contact local law enforcement.

How to File a PPO or ERPO

  • PPOs and ERPOs may be filed electronically or in person.

Electronic

Wayne County partners with Michigan Legal Help for electronic PPO and ERPO filings.

Process summary:

  1. Complete the appropriate PPO or ERPO forms at www.michiganlegalhelp.org (Personal Safety Toolkit).
  2. Select Wayne County and use the " Email Your Form(s) to the Courts/Agency" option.
  3. Submit all forms and supporting documents by email.
  4. The Judge reviews the petition; approved or denied orders are emailed to the filer.
  5. If granted, the order is entered into LEIN and must be served on the respondent with proof of service filed.

Additional pleadings and evidence must be emailed in PDF format to the Clerk as instructed by the Courts.
